  Do videos buffer well on your Apple?

  i did some research and one website acknowledges that windows provides superior buffering of videos compared to that of apple computers.

  since i own both type computers, i have experienced this.

  even newer and, might i add, very expensive apple computers buffer videos poorly, so i have read.

  the short answer is that flash is crap so apple doesn't give a damn about it. If the video uses flash, it might be be weird. if it's using something like webm or h.264 like every sane website, you won't have issues.

  WTS putting recommended hotel list on JW.org

  i wanted to make hotel reservations at a place my wife and i like to use, but my wife told me she already made reservations.

  she said the wts has the list on jwdotorg.. anyone else know about the recommended lodging list being online?

  i couldn't find it.

  yup. we did our reservation this week. the convention letter sent to the congregations have the URL and login credentials for the congregation to get the right dates and hotels. Some of the hotels even have a link so you can do the reservations all online. it was pretty easy actually. i'm....impressed?

  anyone read the "fat girl's guide to life"?

  i am reading it right now and finding it pretty interesting.

  it makes me think outside the box a little bit about how much money is spent on products for people to lose weight, and how much money saturates the market and influences so much of the media.. the author's attitude is one i try to have-- exercise, be balanced in eating habits, drink water, take nutrition supplements, and don't obsess over dieting & what the scale says or about other people's judgements toward my weight.. right now, i already know why i am overweight-- i am eating to deal with my bipolar issues.

  the whole 'fat acceptance' thing is dumb. guess what? if you're fat it's most likely because you eat garbage and don't exercise. Being overweight leads to tons of health conditions. If it takes being shamed into losing weight, well, then that's what it takes.

  i'm wondering if anyone has any relevant references on the topic of satanic ritual abuse (sra) inside the organization, and possible shadow groups.

  perhaps to get more specific, any victim accounts of the ritual aspects and/or presumed motivations of their perpetrators.

  Did you ever run into brothers who didn't like "straightforward" talks?

  so you brother who use to give talks (especially public talks) did you ever run into those brothers that always wanted you to speak "diplomatically" and "show love" all the time even though when you gave a talk and discussed certain points in a honest and straightforward way there was nothing wrong with what you did?

  some people just don't like to hear the truth and even want you to "water things down" so that you "tickle" people's ears.

  Anyone heard a new elder give his first full talk? It sounds all broken gated with words he was not comfortable with I.e not of his normal culture? This is because the wts requires those first talks to be read ' word for word' from a prepared sheet; no going past the 'party line'. Being one of the milder forms of power trip the wts indulges in.

  What? No. At assemblies and conventions there are manuscript talks. At the KH, very very few are manuscript. even stuff like the special talks are outlines. That stuff all gets posted here anyway

  Marriage only possible as an M.S. as a JW???

  it seemed to me for a male jw to begin the steps of dating and eventually getting married you at least had to be an m.s.

  to get anywhere with a sister at least a decent sister.

  i'm wondering if others felt this way?

  i see that all the time, justvisiting. male or female getting baptized just so they can date/marry someone that they've already been seeing for quite some time. those typically don't work out from what i see.

  sisters vastly outnumber brothers so they do have a harder time 'marrying only in the lord'

  not necessarily. the 'logic' is that a chick would want to date and marry a spiritually strong JW. Typically, if a male JW is in his mid 20's and not at least a MS, he is not spiritually strong, at least according to the standards of the WTS
